About Artquaswim

The Artquaswim Difference
At Artquaswim, expert coaching is the foundation of everything we do. Led by former National Champion and Head Coach Juliana Wan, our programs support long-term swimmer development through structured progression, technical excellence, and individualized guidance.
We believe strong swimmers are developed through proper technique from the very beginning. By teaching correct movement patterns early, we help swimmers build confidence, progress efficiently, and avoid habits that are difficult to change later. This foundation supports both lifelong water safety and future athletic potential.
Our program features:
- Dual-Coach Model: Principal and in-water coaches for personalized feedback
- Extended 55-Minute Lessons: Allowing ample time for skill refinement
- Structured Progression: Guiding swimmers through a clear development pathway
- Comfortable Indoor Pools: Providing an optimal environment for focused learning
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find my kid’s swim level?
At Artquaswim in Vancouver, we follow the Lifesaving Society (Canada) swim level system to help families select the appropriate level.
Children ages 3–5 typically start in Preschool Levels 1–5, while swimmers aged 6 and older usually begin in Swimmer 1 unless they have previous swimming experience.
The easiest way to confirm the correct swim level is to message our team. We consider age, water comfort, and previous lessons. A level assessment is also completed during the first class to ensure proper placement for both safety and progress.
📩 Message Us on WhatsAppHow long is each swimming lesson?
Artquaswim swimming lessons are 55 minutes, almost double the duration of most community center programs (typically 25–30 minutes).
All lessons are 55 minutes at both our North Vancouver and Vancouver West locations.
Longer lessons mean more practice time, better repetition, and stronger muscle memory for growing swimmers.
What is the difference between the Essential and Elite Group?
Essential Class (8 students) — less progressive, more fun.
Elite Class (4 students) — faster progress, more care.
Essential Group
Essential Group: Up to 8 students, supported by a 3-coach team (Principal coach on the deck, Certified Coach and Assisitant Coach in the water). Designed to build confidence, enjoyment, and social learning in a structured group environment.
Elite Group
Elite Group: Up to 4 students, taught using our dual-coach system (Principal coach on the deck, Certified Coach in the water). Elite (and Private) students below Swimmer 3 typically level up every 12 lessons with more hands-on technique correction and more direct learning time with the coach, leading to faster progress.
What is the difference between the Elite Group and Private Lesson?
Elite & Private students typically level up every 12 lessons. The main difference is class size, level of individual attention, and learning focus.
Elite is small-group training with fast progress, while Private is fully customized 1-on-1 coaching for the most focused correction and fastest improvement. If your child learns well in a group and enjoys swimming with classmates, Elite is a great choice. If your child needs maximum attention, faster results, or has specific technique goals, Private is the best option.
Are Artquaswim pools heated? What temperature are the pools?
Yes. Both Artquaswim locations feature indoor heated pools maintained at 29–30°C (84–86°F), with indoor air temperatures kept between 26–28°C (79–82°F). This makes our pools ideal for swimming year-round, including throughout the winter.
The warm water helps swimmers feel comfortable and confident, reduces fear of the water, and allows them to focus on learning new skills without getting cold. Many families especially appreciate the consistent temperature during Vancouver’s colder months.
How fast can swimmers improve?
Most swimmers show progress quickly. In our program, over 98% of students level up in about 12 lessons, depending on attendance consistency, starting level, and comfort in the water.
Elite and Private students often improve faster thanks to more hands-on technique correction and individualized coaching. With our Progress Guarantee, swimmers can continue learning at no extra cost until they level up.
